OPENING KEYNOTE SESSION 9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m.

"Moving Ideas to Action" presented by Patrick Adams

The difference between ordinary and extraordinary is “extra.” And once you reach that pinnacle of success, staying on top can be even more challenging.  What does it take to be great and stay great?  Having a great plan is only half of the equation.  You need execution as well.  Too many times, something breaks down.  This fast-paced program will both entertain and inform as to how to insure that great plans make it to the execution stage.  As Larry The Cable Guy says, “Git-r-done.”

EXECUTIVE TRACK SESSIONS

Session #1:"Demographic Patterns for the U.S. and States Economies" presented by Stephen Happel

This session will begin with the current economy and what impacts the stimulus plan will have in general. Next the speaker will discuss key demographic trends in the U.S., how they will play out economically, and the implications for credit unions. Finally, listen to an in depth look about New Mexico in terms of labor markets, demographics, and what the future holds in store for the state and its credit unions.

Session #2: CEO Panelist Discussion

Hear ideas from your peers and engage in a roundtable discussion about best practices and current issues that credit unions are facing.

Session #3: Regulation Roundtable Discussion

Hear from the regulators themselves and ask questions that your credit union is facing. You’ll walk away from this roundtable discussion with all your questions answered and lots of information.

MANAGEMENT TRACK SESSIONS

Session #1: "Economic Outlook and the Impact on Credit Unions" by Brian Turner

In this session, Brian Turner will take a mid-year look at the U.S. economy—mapping out the recent events and forecasting likely scenarios for the remainder of the year. More importantly, Brian will discuss economic implications for credit unions and how credit unions can best prepare for what is coming next.

Session #2: "Litigation Avoidance" by Kevin O'Neill

This session will include insight into issues of particular interest to managers as we navigate a very turbulent period in employment relations: where is the greatest liability exposure when employee relations go bad or management missteps occur? What is the best risk avoidance strategy for employee discrimination or harassment claims?  Effective implementation of codes of conduct that address conflicts of interest, financial integrity and ethical conduct. Every error counts-- a wage and hour compliance imperative. An update on employment law issues.  Overall, we will lay a foundation for understanding the critical employment law duties and responsibilities from a manager's perspective.

Session #3: "New Technology Drives Emerging Risk" by Ann Davidson

Technology is advancing at lightning speed and impacting every aspect of business and personal transactions. Accompanying technology risks are emerging at nearly the same pace. Credit unions can mitigate these risks by implementing fraud prevention controls and practices. Join CUNA Mutual in a discussion about emerging risks and learn about remote deposit capture, online deposits, online account opening & funding, and other risks on the horizon.
