In your role as a Supervisory Committee member, you have been empowered to oversee the financial affairs and operations of your Credit Union. This session will help you sort out the complexities of this task. Breakfast and lunch is included in the training. Guests are welcome to attend meal functions for $50.

· Regulatory requirements
· Audit and other oversight responsibilities
· Understanding internal controls
· Working with auditors and examiners
· Understanding credit union financial information and ratios

 

The seminar will also include best practices utilized and questions that your committee should be asking relating to all areas of Credit Union operations, including:

· Succession and strategic planning
· Budgeting
· Financial information
· Accounting and internal controls
· Lending
· Collections
· Delinquency and recoveries
· Fraud and bond claims

· ALM and others

 

Speaker: Ron Parker

Ron Parker is a Certified Public Accountant and retired Partner of Clifton Gunderson, LLP (CG). Ron has been involved with Credit Unions for more than 35 years and has been actively engaged in the practice of public accounting for more than 30 years. Having served on the Board of Directors andSupervisory Committees of Credit Unions and working with hundreds of Credit Unions in an audit and consulting capacity, Ron is uniquely familiar with the challenges that Credit Unions face.

Mr. Parker is the Past Chairperson of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants Credit Union Committee and has served as a member of the AICPA Credit Union Conference Planning Committee. Ron has worked in conjunction with officials at NCUA, the National Association of State Credit Union Supervisors (NASCUS), CUES, CUNA, and other state and national Credit Union organizations.
